Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates using a Range of Methods (A1)
Introduction
The ASET Level 3 Award in Assessing Candidates Using a Range of Methods is suitable for the person who assesses NVQ candidates using a diverse range of assessment methods.
This Award enables assessors to:
• Develop plans for assessing competence with NVQ candidates
• Judge evidence against agreed standards to make assessment decisions
• Give NVQ candidates feedback and support on your assessment decisions
• Contribute to the internal quality assurance process within NVQ Centres
Who is it for?
This Award is for trainers, instructors and those who assess NVQ candidates and, in special instances, learners for other appropriate work-based learning programmes that have been approved by the Awarding Body.

Progession

This qualification aims to enable learners to progress to further learning opportunities in areas such as:
• ASET Level 4 Award in Conducting Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V1)
• ASET Level 4 Award in Conducting External Quality Assurance of the Assessment Process (V2)
• NVQs in Learning and Development
• NVQs in Direct Training and Support

Structure

One unit:
Unit A1: Assess candidates using a range of methods
Comprising of the following elements of competence:
A1.1 Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
A1.2 Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
A1.3 Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
A1.4 Contribute to the internal quality assurance process


Assessment

The NVQ candidate presents evidence to cover performance criteria and underpinning knowledge and understanding for the unit. The evidence is assessed and verified internally by occupationally qualified staff, and is subject to external verification by ASET.

Duration: 3 to 6 months
